Meet the Bendos

We’re Christian and Melissa Bendo, artists and makers.

What started as a personal creative outlet has become a family-rooted art business, led by Christian’s hands and heart. Every piece we make-from hand-carved surfboards to coasters, ornaments, and workshop experiences- is created with intentionality, deep care, and a desire to reflect beauty in both form and meaning. Alongside us, Christian’s parents also lend their years of artistry and experience, offering support and wisdom behind the scenes. This truly is a small family-operated business, woven together by creativity and love.

 

How it Began

Seven years ago, we moved to Hawaiʻi from Guam to be near family during a difficult season. Christian’s sister, Des, began her first round of chemo. In that chapter of grief, uncertainty, and hope, art became more than expression. It became connection. It became healing. It became worship.

What began around the kitchen table has grown into something far beyond us- a space where others can experience joy, depth, creativity, and aloha.

Christian: The Artist

Christian is the primary artist behind CB Art. His ability to blend wood and resin into vivid depictions of ocean life and island imagery reflects not just craftsmanship but soul. He’s always sketching new ideas, inspired by nature, culture, and the people around him. Whether he’s designing for a hotel, preparing for a festival, or leading a workshop, his heart is in every detail.

This is more than a business for us. It’s a min. A celebration of resilience. A way to hold space for beauty in the everyday.
